Delta opens new R&D center in Soest, Germany strengthening EMEA innovationDELTA BRAN

Date: August, 2026

Delta announced the official opening of its new Research and Development (R&D) center in Soest, Germany, significantly expanding its innovation capabilities in high‑efficiency power solutions for AI and High‑Performance Computing (HPC) data centers, as well as for electric mobility, including 800 VDC server power supplies and 4‑in‑1 EV power systems.

With the rapid increase in power density in AI infrastructure, testing requirements are becoming significantly more complex, requiring expanded and highly specialized laboratory environments. Therefore, this green facility at Soest, designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, comprises 7,500 square meters of advanced R&D laboratory space and 2,500 square meters of office space to accommodate up to 250 talents.

Dr. Peter Ide, Managing Director of Delta Energy Systems, said, “Soest has been a vital innovation engine for Delta in EMEA for decades, and this expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening localized R&D capabilities in Europe. It enables closer collaboration with customers and faster development of advanced and sustainable solutions for data center and automotive applications. In the field of AI, Delta’s high‑density power supplies can cope with rising energy consumption from next‑generation GPU hardware. Local R&D teams can quickly respond to European customer requirements for AI data centers and electric vehicle powertrain products.”

Delta’s Soest site has decades‑long expertise in power electronics development. The new R&D center consolidates engineering resources for AI data center power hardware and electric vehicle power conversion systems. Engineers will conduct full‑product validation, reliability testing and pre‑certification inside the new labs.

As artificial intelligence computing keeps scaling up, data centers face challenges including higher power draw, stricter reliability rules and sustainability targets. Delta’s local European R&D capacity shortens product iteration cycles, supports customers to build energy‑saving AI infrastructure and accelerates innovation for clean mobility solutions.

Delta’s brand promise “Smarter. Greener. Together.” guides its global investment in R&D, focusing on power management, energy efficiency and carbon reduction across data centers, industrial automation, building infrastructure and e‑mobility.
